Many of the positive effects that probiotics deliver can be linked to Postbiotics, with there being a strong symbiotic relationship between postbiotics and maintaining our gut health and a healthy MICROBIOME!

The Microbiome

The Microbiome is a newly recognized player in K9 or human health for that matter, and its impact is far-reaching.

It is like a conductor in the orchestra of our body, orchestrating complex interactions between our cells and organs.

Activ Dog Health Postbiotics can support immune health, provide digestive support, improve gut function, and help to restore the ability to adequately absorb nutrients, including vitamins.

This is done by putting billions of good Bacteria into you dogs stomach daily activating its inner health, making for a very healthy and happy puppy via a healthy Microbiome.

Microbiome Assist, Activ Dog Health’s leading technology, represents a paradigm shift in Postbiotic development and application.

The Microbiome

Inside every one of us including our dogs is a world every bit as complex and intriguing as the outside world.

We all play host to a fascinating, tiny universe of trillions of living micro-organisms which are collectively known as the microbiome.

These bacteria, fungi and viruses which outnumber the stars in the Milky Way, have evolved with us over thousands of years and, as the basis of our immune and digestive systems,  influence our everyday health.

While we have already begun to take strides in our understanding of this rich ecosystem, researchers also believe it will be the site of much more health science in the future.

In The Beginning

They say there’s nothing more precious than a mother’s love. But a mother’s germs are almost as important.

Puppies inherit a whole encyclopedia of useful bacteria from their mums, primarily through breastfeeding and, if born vaginally, their passage through the birth canal.

These bacteria pass into the puppy’s gut, where they form the bedrock of a growing microbiome.

The microbiome changes and adapts as we journey through life. Once a puppy starts solids, it’s introduced to a whole new set of micro-organisms, and contact with other dogs people, and people further increases bacterial diversity.

A Helping Hand

The ideal way to support a healthy microbiome is with a fresh, balanced diet and regular exercise.

Antibiotics and modern food hygiene, for all their benefits, have limited our exposure to bacteria, while processed, fiber-poor foods give our microbiomes little to feed on.

An additional way to help support the diversity of the microbiomes is to supplement a healthy diet with postbiotics, which contain bacterial strains specifically selected to support the health of the gut.

Living Inovation

Recent decades have seen a huge increase in our understanding of the microbiome, but much remains to be discovered.

As we explore this fascinating world inside, we become capable of understanding processes that were once a mystery, leading to innovations in the way we live our lives.

This is just the start. Stay tuned and join us on the journey.

Children & Dogs

Children and dogs in a household share gut microbes – and these microbes are modified by a canine probiotic. A new study recently explored the impact of a household dog on children’s gut microbiota, before and after the dogs were given a canine probiotic.

Not only did the gut microbiota of dogs and children in the same household share features in common, but also the gut microbes of both shifted after dogs received a probiotic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Postbiotics are an incredible new finding in gut health research. In terms of your overall digestive health, Postbiotics help to reduce intestinal inflammation. This is vital because Probiotics can’t do what they are supposed to do when there is inflamed tissue. Bad bacteria ends up destroying those Probiotics before they can even start their good work.

Combining your pets Probiotics with Postbiotics ensures the healthy Bacteria is better absorbed and delivered to where it’s supposed to go.

You will likely be hearing more and more about Postbiotics over the next several months and years. Postbiotics are likely to be the next up-and-coming health-boosting component in your diet and digestive process.

By consuming Postbiotics, it allows for the immediate delivery of beneficial metabolites into your dog’s body. This reduces the reliance on Prebiotics and Probiotics to release Postbiotics and allows for Probiotics to work better.

The microbiome, which refers to the collection of microorganisms living in and on the our dogs body, continues to be a rapidly evolving area of research.

Here are some recent developments:

Gut microbiome and brain health: Research suggests that the gut microbiome may play a role in brain health and neurological disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and autism. Studies have found that certain bacteria in the gut can produce neurotransmitters and other compounds that affect brain function, and that altering the gut microbiome through probiotics, diet, or fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) may have therapeutic potential.

Microbiome and cancer: Research has shown that the microbiome may play a role in the development and progression of various types of cancer. Studies have found that gut microbiome composition is associated with colorectal cancer.

Microbiome and immunity: The microbiome has been found to play a crucial role in immune function and regulation. Research has shown that the gut microbiome is involved in the development and function of immune cells, and alterations in the gut microbiome have been linked to autoimmune disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and multiple sclerosis. Studies are ongoing to explore the potential for microbiome-based therapies for these and other immune-related disorders.

Microbiome and personalized nutrition: There is increasing interest in the potential for microbiome-based personalized nutrition. Research suggests that the gut microbiome may affect how individuals respond to different types of foods and diets, and that personalized dietary interventions based on an individual’s microbiome may be more effective than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Overall, the microbiome continues to be an exciting area of research with the potential to revolutionize our understanding of overall health and disease.

A daily Postbiotic will improve the absorption of a variety of vitamins and minerals from food and supplements.

In addition, Postbiotics can manufacture B vitamins, and there may be a synergistic relationship between vitamin D and Postbiotics.

If your dog is experiencing the signs and symptoms of a micronutrient deficiency, it’s important to look for the root cause, which is often related to suboptimal gut health.

Postbiotics can support immune health, provide digestive support, improve gut function, and help to restore the ability to adequately absorb nutrients, including vitamins.

Gut microbiome: Finding the right balance

There are literally trillions of microorganisms that live in your dogs intestinal tract, and this is what’s referred to as their gut microbiome. In order to stay happy and healthy, that microbiome needs to be well balanced with both good and bad bacteria.

Just because some bacteria is termed as ‘bad’, that doesn’t mean it should be eliminated from your dogs body. In fact, a well-balanced gut microbiome needs a balanced mix of both good and bad microorganisms. This way, they can work in tandem to keep your dog in good health.

From bacteria to fungi, protozoa and viruses, all these things play a role in their gut microbiome – an environment teeming with good and bad bacteria. And when things like poor diet and other health issues cause their bacteria levels to be out of balance, it can have a negative impact.

So how do we fix it?

Simply by supplementing their diet with Postbiotics namely Activ Daily once a day.

The overall goal when it comes to taking probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics isn’t to overload their body with one or the other. Rather, it’s to ensure there is good balance in their gut microbiome. Through the right balance of good and bad bacteria, they’ll work in harmony to keep them healthy and feeling their best.

Due to increased stability, temperature and pressure tolerances, Postbiotics have significant shelf-life benefits when compared to live probiotics.

The term postbiotic was recently defined by an panel of scientists convened by the International Scientific Association of Probiotics and Prebiotics as “a preparation of inanimate microorganisms and/or their components that confers a health benefit on the host.” This definition focused on the progenitor microbial cell or cell fragments, not just metabolites, proteins or carbohydrates they might produce. Although such microbe-produced constituents may be functional ingredients of the preparation, they are not required to be present in a postbiotic according to this definition.

A recent research paper showed that when using postbiotics for certain gut imbalances, positive results were shown from as early as 1-2 weeks.
